If your denture cracks or breaks, or if a denture tooth is chipped, loose or has fallen out, find a dentist and have it repaired immediately. Dentures can usually be repaired quickly, (often the same day). Regardless of how long it will take to repair your denture, do not continue to use a damaged denture without repairing it because the damage may get far worse - to the point that the denture is then beyond repair. |

Also, a damaged or broken denture can cause injury to the inside of your mouth. If you're going to have it repaired "sooner or later", have it repaired right away and minimize the damage to the denture and to your mouth. |

Please don't attempt to repair your own denture with Super Glue or some repair materials found at the store or online. |

Below are four very good reasons not to repair your own denture. |
1. |
If you attempt the repair yourself, you may not get the cracks (or the pieces) lined up properly and that may make it expensive (or impossible) to repair properly later. |

2. |
If you leave lumps or rough spots on the repaired area while making a repair, you may develop sore spots on the sensitive tissue in your mouth from prolonged contact with the rough or lumpy area. |

Repairs done with improper materials such as Super Glue may cause ulcerations or illness as you slowly ingest the materials or solvents. |

Incorrect repair materials will coat the acrylic enough to make it difficult to repair properly later. This often causes extra expensive to complete the repair properly because the temporary repair materials must be removed. AND, the repair may not last as long if all of the incorrect material isn't found and completely removed prior to using the correct materials. |
| It's really best to bring your denture in for repair because repairing a denture correctly requires more than just using the correct materials - it also requires the correct tools and knowledge. |

| While dentures are durable, they won't last forever. With years of use, stains will likely occur and they may lose their natural appearance. They often become worn and will not function as well as they did when they were new. As they wear and your mouth changes, the fit usually becomes loose or uncomfortable. |
| Pressure from chewing on a denture that doesn't fit or occlude properly with the opposing teeth will usually crack the acrylic. If that happens, gluing it back together won't eliminate the poor fit and the denture will crack again. |
| Sometimes, it's just smarter to put the 'repair money' towards a nice, new, properly fitting new denture. |
| If you haven't been to a dentist in a while, seriously consider having a dentist examine your mouth, gums, tongue, and jaw joints for any signs of problems. Some diseases, like diabetes, will actually show symptoms in mouth tissue; your oral health reflects the rest of your health and your dentist is an important member of your health care team. |
| Your dentist will be able to take a look at your dentures and give you honest advice. And, if the dentist feels that all you need is a minor repair, then that's all that will be done. |
